Peter L. Antoinette: Co-founder, President & Chief Executive Officer

Peter co-founded Nanocomp Technologies, Inc. in 2004 and serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding Nanocomp Technologies, Peter was the President and CEO of Cambridge Research & Instrumentation Inc., Woburn, MA, an early stage liquid crystal technology company, where he commercialized optical products for telecommunications and high performance imaging systems. Previously, he spent a fifteen year career with Millipore Corporation, a Fortune 500 leader in separations technology, in Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, and as a Vice President and General Manager. He is the holder of one patent, co-inventor of several pending patents. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire High Technology Council, is a member of the National Science Foundation’s Center for High-Rate Nanomanufacturing Industrial Advisory Board, and a is a member of United States Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s Small Business Advisory Council.
David Lashmore, Ph.D.: Co-founder, Vice President & Chief Technology Officer

David is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of superlattices, alloys, and material science. He received a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Virginia. He is the holder of more than 40 issued and pending patents, has authored more than 75 scientific publications, and has chaired numerous scientific meetings and symposia. David spent sixteen years at the National Institute for Standards and Technologies in Washington DC, as the Group Leader in the Metallurgy Division where he led the development of many industrial materials reference standards.
Following his tenure at NIST, he was a co-founder of Microproperties Inc., Materials Innovation Inc., and Innovative Dental Materials Inc. His industrial accomplishments include development of volume manufacturing and coating technologies for micro-particles and fibers; development of novel materials for advanced energy applications; and the development of novel methods for the growth and fabrication of carbon nanotubes and related nanostructures including applications for these novel materials. David has been awarded the AESF ElectroDeposition Award, the Electrochemical Society Research Award, and The Blum Award from the Electrochemical Society.
William J. Schmidt: Vice President and & Chief Financial Officer

Bill is an experienced financial leader with an extensive background in accounting, finance and operations with both early stage private equity backed manufacturing and software companies and multi-national, publicly held corporations with a technology focus. Prior to joining Nanocomp, Bill was a Partner in the financial leadership practice at Tatum LLC, a nationally recognized professional services firm focused on financial and operational excellence. Prior to Tatum, Bill served in senior level financial positions including Vice President of Finance and CFO roles at the operations of several leading edge technology companies including Ibis Technology, High Voltage Engineering Corporation, PRI Automation (Brooks), Perkin Elmer and Philips Electronics Corporation where he led major initiatives focused on growth and improved earnings through strategic acquisition, financial restructuring, operational efficiency.
Bill has lead and participated in multiple initiatives regarding all aspects of financial and operational management including capital raise, multiple M&A processes, strategic planning and international operations working closely with operational management teams. Additionally Bill has extensive experience regarding all aspects of SEC reporting and compliance, treasury, investor relations and a variety of operational and administrative functions that include contract Administration, legal, supply chain, HR and IT.
Bill holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and both a BS in Finance and a BA in Political Science from West Virginia University. He has also attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program’s and is a member of Financial Executives International and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Mark A. Banash, Ph.D.: Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs

Mark is responsible for addressing one of NCTI’s greatest challenges with its carbon nanomaterials: Proving the links between their unique nanoscale features and how those features affect our manufacturing processes, the performance of end products, and the health of both our employees and the environment. Mark directs our Quality program, establishing the techniques needed to test our materials from the bulk to the molecular levels. He runs our safety program, which is recognized by regulatory agencies as the standard for the nanomaterials industry. He also directs NCTI’s active collaborations with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the U.S. EPA, and the National Science Foundation’s Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing.
Prior to Nanocomp, Mark was the director for production and quality for the company’s nanomaterial products for Zyvex Corporation, where he managed manufacturing operations and initiated the industry’s first supply chain certification process to qualify carbon nanotubes. Mark also led the firm to ISO:9001 registration and created its quality management system. Mark was also an R&D scientist at Millennium Chemicals and EniChem Americas, developing products that ranged from new types of optical glass to protective ceramic films.
Mark holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College, and a B.A. with honors in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He is an adjunct faculty member in operations and technology management at the University of Maryland, University College. Mark is a frequent speaker on the safe and ethical uses of nanotechnology and actively participates with the National Nanotechnology Initiative’s environmental, health, and safety programs. He is a member of the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Advisory Group on the measurement of nanomaterials. He is also a member of the American Society for Quality and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.
John H. Dorr: Vice President of Business Development

John is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of hands-on operational experience in a variety of sales, marketing, and engineering leadership roles.
Prior to joining Nanocomp, John was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DTC Communications, a Cobham plc company, where he oversaw record orders performance selling microwave communications products to the DoD robotics and military/law enforcement surveillance market. In addition, John was part of the executive team responsible for achieving the company’s initial ISO 9001:2000 registration.
Before DTC, John was the Vice President of Marketing for Viisage Technology, where he successfully led a major re-branding and product launch of the company’s technology. While at Viisage, John participated in a number of M&A transactions as a key member of the management team.
John also has a demonstrated track record in start-up environments. He initiated and led the product management function for Cerulean Technology, a wireless communications software company. As Vice President of Marketing, John was instrumental in leading the company’s growth from 75 to over 3000 customers, which was a vital contributing factor to the successful sale of Cerulean to Aether Systems for $150M.
John holds B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Lowell, MA and is a frequent technical speaker and writer.
Dave Gailus: Vice President of Engineering

Dave Gailus has over 25 years of Engineering Management experience in both established and start-up companies.
After graduating from MIT with a BSME, Dave joined Teradyne Connection Systems (TCS), now Amphenol TCS, where he worked in the Machine Development Group and eventually managed the Manufacturing Engineering and Product Development groups. After TCS, Dave joined Spectra, a start-up company , now Fujifilm Dimatix, where he managed Production Operations and Manufacturing Engineering and integrated design-for-manufacture principles in to product designs. Following Spectra, Dave worked for Aavid, now Aavid Thermalloy, where he managed the Engineering aspects of a factory start-up dedicated to producing high volume thermal components for Intel. Dave continued at Aavid as the Director of Engineering, supporting the design and manufacturing process development of custom products for GE, Northrop Grumman, Dell, Apple, Microsoft, Motorola and other large OEM’s.
After supporting several highly successful independent manufacturing and engineering consultant engagements, Dave joined Nanocomp as the company’s VP of Engineering.
Dave is a hands-on Engineering Professional who prefers to spend as much time as possible in the production area. He brings with him expertise in manufacturing management, process and equipment development, materials development and process control. Over the course of his career, Dave’s work has resulted in 19 U.S. patents.
